Why Did Ancient Egypt Remove the Brain Before Mummification? #animation #historical #ancientegypt

If you were being mummified in ancient Egypt, embalmers would carefully preserve your organs, wrap you in fine linen, and prepare you for eternity. Then they would rip your brain out through your nose and throw it away.
Here's why. The Egyptians didn't think the brain did anything important. To them, the heart was the seat of intelligence, memory, and personality, and it got preserved with extraordinary care. The brain, they believed, was just packing material.
The method itself was brutal. Embalmers used a long hooked tool, pushed it through the nostril, and pulled the brain out in pieces, sometimes whisking it inside the skull just to liquefy it faster.
To modern doctors, this looks like ancient Egypt destroying the one organ that actually made a person who they were. To the Egyptians, it was simply clearing out the trash before the real work of preserving a soul began.
