Chris Hansen was exposed for cheating on his wife years after the show was cancelled due to the DA's death, but the film has it take place during to push the narrative that it caused him to make the irrational decisions that led to that death. It's not accurate at all, they definetly lied.

There is not. It's also incredibly uncomfy and explicit from the jump. It is a good movie, very avant-garde, but I don't think it demonized Chris Hansen the man as much as using his persona as a vehicle to get the main message across. He's basically become a mythical legend.

Complete change of Chris hansens character to the point where it’s wholly unbelievable, really weird focus, strange directing choice especially the focus on the decoys life.

Also, f*****, saying, we shouldn't shame.People who are proven without any doubt , a predator. Chris hansen works with his team , multiple professionals and law enforcement on every. These are actual law enforcement investigations with financial help from chris hansen's show. You know , the show that financed many , many , many of these cases that have not been shown to the public. It betrays chris hansen as a bad guy for doing what he does.

But this movie criticizes all his work even though without it.Many, many pedophiles would have never been caught.Because without the show , you couldn't fund catching these predators , because he has funded mini that were never shown to the public. He pays people full time to do this and works full time with law enforcement on actual investigations. And shaming pedophiles who prove without a doubt to be pedophiles is a great thing , especially if they commit suicide. It would have been a great movie if it was about the countless YouTube channels and stuff. Who do everything wrong? But to criticize and s*** on the person, who does it the best and most correct Is despicable?

The movie is totally fictional and a hit piece on Chris Hansen. Ninety-eight percent of the things in it are made up, and Hansen can't sue for defamation because it would give the movie credibility that it doesn't deserve and shouldn't receive.
Here are 4 examples of this:
1. In the movie: The suicide of the Texas Assistant District Attorney (based on the real-life tragedy of Bill Conradt) causes Hansen to instantly spiral into deep regret and abruptly marks the immediate end of the show.
The reality: While the lawsuit from Conradt's family did severely damage the show's ethics and standing, To Catch a Predator was not immediately canceled and continued to air for several years.
2. In the movie: Hansen's character is shown having tense, highly dramatic confrontations with former NBC head Jeff Zucker.
The reality: Hansen stated that these scenes never happened and questioned why the filmmakers included Zucker in such an inaccurate light.
3. In the movie: A major third-act plot point features The National Enquirer threatening to expose photos of Hansen cheating on his wife right as the show is pursuing its biggest target, driving his character into an erratic, paranoid tailspin.
The reality: Hansen’s affair with a Florida news anchor was exposed by the tabloid in 2011. This happened roughly five years after the events shown in the movie and four years after To Catch a Predator had already finished its television run.
4. In the movie: Pattinson portrays Hansen as a ruthless, power-hungry, and detached figure experiencing a near-psychotic descent into madness, frequently screaming at his crew and staff.
The reality: Hansen strongly refuted this, stating he never raised his voice at his crew or behaved maliciously. He described the portrayal as a "hit piece" meant to wrongly demonize him. (There is more, read for yourself—this movie shouldn't get publicity!!!)
