Everyone laughs when he picks the priest but the average cost of a slave was 10 years salary - conditions. The fact he could read and was well traveled made him easily the most valuable thing in the haul

Name the average viking salary - conditions and explain what exactly would he read in a god forgotten village for the vikings at that point?
👍 22026/09/25
@nobodyknows9312YouTube
@psypsynosI was using a real price point that was made during a specific time with a specific price for travel. My point is, this is general information it's not about "oh look obscure fact" it's about the fact that slaves are actually really valuable and for whatever reason they don't value them the same.
Now logically this is likely because outside raiding these people don't get much commerce and the like, a slave may help on a farm or in this case, read and write but compared to an actual pound of gold I could understand why in this case it would not be considered worth it. I just find these types of things interesting

@MISTAWULFY It does not change the fact, that Ragnar looking back at everything, felt regret, wishing he had never left the farm, that life would have been victory for him, his goals blinded by power and wealth, he understood then, they were hollow.
