“Admiral” and “arsenal” are Arabic words.
“Admiral” comes from amir al-bahr — commander of the sea. “Arsenal” comes from dar al-sina'ah — house of industry — which Venice borrowed as arzana for its great naval dockyard before the word passed into French and English.
