To be fair Western portrayal of live action animes have failed like Db evolution and Death note, One Piece had Oda and the Ruruoni Kenshin movies were good too. But they're probably making these changes with Sakura especially to make her deep, since causals complained she didn't have a tragic backstory or she was "useless".

@keenestfox6376 I’m guessing Kishimoto regretted Sakura being a damsel & distress, fawning over Sasuke, and having the lack of potential to be a powerful ninja during the pre timeskip compared to the post timeskip. She wasn’t as weak during the post timeskip since people do tend to make some misconceptions with her character. Sakura was shown to be strong and resourceful enough during battle and through medical expertise like when she confronted Sasori, used an antidote to counter his poison, removed the poison out of Kankuro’s body, and was able to figure out and take down a Zetsu clone that impersonating Neji. I also remember somewhere in the manga and anime that Kakashi stated that Sakura was well suited in the use of genjutsu. Maybe we’ll see her utilize genjutsu in the Naruto live action.
