They went back to review the original X-Men movie and… it’s not exactly holding up. 😭

It may not be a great movie by today’s standards, but for a superhero movie released in 2000, they can give it some credit.

Does X-Men still hold up, or was it just good for its time? 👀

The acting for half the characters was awful. There's a lot to like but it wasn't a great movie overall.

The problem is no that it is dated, the problem is that Magneto's plan was relatively simple and the movie spent most of the time padding itself.

These guys simply aren’t aware of what the landscape for superhero movies was prior to the mcu. Regardless if you like or dislike the movies, the way they talk about OG superhero movies just shows a complete lack of awareness and respect

It's not a bad movie And if you say it is, then you're clearly wrong. You shouldn't be reviewing movies talking about movies

Obviously it was a very important stepping stone in building the superhero movie genre as a whole. The being said, looking back, it does about nothing that I’d want from the first installment in an x-men movie franchise. Wolverine’s the center, they make rogue a child when everyone else is at least in their mid 20s. They ship Bobby and rogue (idk why). The suits, (while cool for the time) absolutely tainted the concepts for superhero suits, that were only just now starting to break away from the effects that movie had on them. Apart from the opening scene, and the casting, this film could’ve been an interesting 2nd or 3rd film with A LOT of changes…

You make it sound like the movie fought for this country. The guys acknowledged its merits and understood that they can’t hold it to the same standards as superhero media today, regardless of its quality

Eh you’re very wrong. They love the OG Superman, all Tobey’s Spider-Man movies, X2 is hat guy’s favorite X-Men, it’s sad to say but the first X-Men just isn’t really a good movie.
