This $15,000 Horror Movie Made $194 Million

Paranormal Activity was reportedly shot for about $15,000 in seven days in the director's San Diego house, then earned about $194 million worldwide after Paramount released it in 2009. That's a bigger return on its original shoot than even The Blair Witch Project.

The $15,000 and $60,000 figures are reported costs of the original shoots; studio reshoots and marketing came later. Box office is not adjusted for inflation.
