Something Moved Through Egypt That Night

It was the last night in Egypt.

They killed a lamb, caught the blood in a basin, and painted it
across the top and both sides of the door. Then they went inside
and shut the door and waited.

Nobody saw what came through the city that night.
The lamps bent. The dust moved down the empty lanes.
And at every door carrying that mark, it kept going.

By morning Egypt was awake and the ones behind the blood walked out.

"Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed."
— 1 Corinthians 5:7

They were not saved because of anything they did that night.
They were saved because of what was on the door.
