greatness comes at a cost #movies #whiplash #vanity #martysupreme

This right here is a perfect example to showcase how greatness and vanity often overlap. The main character portrayed in the scene, Marty, at the height of his delusion is a textbook narcissist, who has proven time and time again in the movie that he is not an inspirational "be humble and be kind and you'll get there" character but a testament of how greatness often comes at a cost.

And it's not just Marty Supreme. Look around you, in other characters portrayed in movies, celebrities, or maybe even people that are around you personally. Notice how among the people who stand out the most and seem to excel in their fields the most, they all share one thing in common. Vanity. Sometimes it's not noticeable, those people can appear to be the most humble people you meet, but the truth is, almost everyone who overachieves is driven by their own vanity. This isn't a good thing, it's just a pattern that perhaps is the flaw in humanity.
