They Pulled His Brain Out Through His Nose... On Purpose

An Egyptian embalmer had a problem: the brain rots fast, but the face of the dead had to stay perfect for the afterlife. His solution was a bent bronze hook, a thin bone, and a very steady hand, and nothing about it went smoothly.
This is a funny stickman retelling of a real part of ancient Egyptian mummification. Embalmers removed the brain through the nose, and the Greek historian Herodotus described the process. Egyptians believed the heart was the center of thought, so they left the heart in the body and threw the brain away. The scenes in this video are an animated reconstruction, and the deceased is treated with respect.
