The new stop motion film that is about to come out ( I forgot the name but it's something about the wild) is made by the same director. The best part is that they started on the film right after Coraline came out. So they have been working on this project for about 12 years now.
They are putting soooo much work into it, that it's going to be the next masterpiece and may be the last major stop motion film we see. Please go watch it when it comes out.
Edit: its been 16 years.
also I say it may be our last major stop motion film we see, I mean in our life times. One to beat this may take another 16-30 years. But it won't be by the same people.

Coralines amazing yet honestly kind of overrated. Lakia has so many other amazing films and coraline gets all the attention. Which makes it boring lmao

Same. I love that also the whole thing can be watched as an allegory of a child growing up in a abusive house which I can also relate to. And I love the amount of details and thought put into EVERYTHING. And I love the fact that its made so well in general too with the stop motion, the music, the design, voice acting, everything! I just love the movie, also because it's a children's horror movie it technically is kind of like a cozy/comfort feeling horror film if this makes sense, lieo it just has such an interesting aesthetic and all that.

It won't be the end of stop-motion, but it's 100% something that needs to be savored and appreciated in a climate that is becoming actively hostile to creatives.
We'll miss all the human art when it's gone.

I saw this for my 13th birthday and it’s always been one of my favourites. I’m 30 now and still love it.
I’ve watched it in Japanese too (not 100 percent fluent in Japanese) and it’s still as creepier if not more.

The idea that a girl protagonist would push away male viewers was such a dumbass thought process based in nothing. Like so wild to me.

As a boy, the female protagonist didn’t push me away
