Did You Know These Hollywood Movies Were Inspired by Anime? 👀

Superman, The Matrix, giant robots—and even boxing. Anime helped shape the action and storytelling of these Hollywood films.

Man of Steel: storyboard artist Jay Oliva acknowledged drawing on Dragon Ball Z for his fight work.
The Matrix: the Wachowskis named Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Ninja Scroll when discussing anime influences, including the handling of time and space during action.
Pacific Rim: Guillermo del Toro acknowledged influences including Patlabor and Tetsujin 28.
Creed III: Michael B. Jordan discussed Naruto, Dragon Ball Z and other anime as influences on the fights and emotional relationships.

These are creative influences; the films are not anime adaptations. Each film also has other influences. The poster images identify the works; they are not presented as shot-for-shot comparisons.
