This is a spinoff of discovery. Surprisingly better than discovery, much better. They also later did a quasi remake of 'balance of terror' as a what-if. Basically, it's a what-if pike was captain of the enterprise instead of Kirk due to pike trying to change his fate. Pike realizes that Kirk would be better as captain in that scenario (because Kirk is more aggressive, which actually would have caused a better outcome), and decides to not change his fate. Great episode, like the original 'balance of terror'. Some of the lines are identical to balance of terror.

Yup. Direct descendant. It actually causes her several interesting conflicts. She has a strong dislike of augments because of her awareness of her ancestors' history, but then it turns out her best friend is an augment (non-human). Later she has to save a child Khan in a time travel episode, and is tempted to kill him herself. She also develops feelings for Kirk because she went back in time with a version of him, but then can't tell him about it because that version dies. Particularly funny aspect of that episode was the antagonist was a Romulan temporal agent that disguised herself as a hippy if I remember correctly.

SNW started off relatively strong, and then in season 4 we get puppets and a soap opera. Glad to hear Kurtzman is out, and hopefully the influence of Jar Jar Abrams as well.
I really hope season 5 has all killer episodes. Get back to the real deal Paramount.

Starfleet command makes a one time exception to allow contact with the planet for him. Yes he's crippled but he gets to live with a woman he really likes and can have anything he wants. @richturner978Honestly, I feel like you very well can compare the Orville to Star Trek. The Orville was a love letter to Star Trek by Seth McFarlane and it followed the roots of the series way better than Discovery ever did.
Strange New Words was a good reset to the formula and modernised TOS similarly to the Orville.

There were always silly episodes here and there in star trek. Trouble with tribbles, the NG crew turning into kids, etc. Yeah they aren't the best but they help develop characters without there being some reality ending enemy always at the front door. yes this show in the timeline is just b4 Kirk in fact Kirk takes over after Pike is injured. in fact side note the same actors that play Captain Pike & the First Officer there going after in this Episode were the original Captain & First Officer in Star Trek the original series in the 60"s. but the powers that be plus most of this racist country back then couldn't stomach a female as First Officer & the original design for Sppck looked to much like the devil. his original skin color was red & he had a tail plus the same pointed ears

Pike, Spock, Kirk, Sulu, Picard, Janeway and Sisko are all Starfleet Captains who have a close bond with their crews and it’s that type of Officer who they will go to the wall for when it’s required, and you may notice that I left Captain Edward Jellico off that list since he doesn’t inspire the crew to go above and beyond what regulations require.
