“We used to live together before 1948.”
As an Arab Christian, I believe Muslims, Christians and Jews are not destined to live as enemies. These three religions have shared the Holy Land for generations, and there was a time when people traded together, lived alongside one another and built relationships across religious lines.
The killing must stop. Enough is enough. Palestinians and Israelis deserve a future beyond endless war — a future where what has been destroyed can be rebuilt and where people can once again live together in peace.
Peace cannot begin until the war ends.
Abouna Dr. Ibrahim Dabbour is a Greek Orthodox priest from Jordan and a prominent Christian voice in the Middle East. He has served as Secretary General of the Council of Heads of Churches in Jordan and represented the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem in Jordan. His work has included interfaith dialogue and discussions about the role of Christians in the Middle East and the Holy Land.
In this message, Abouna Ibrahim Dabbour speaks about Palestine, the West Bank and the shared history of Muslims, Christians and Jews in the Holy Land. His appeal is simple: end the war, reject hatred and rebuild a future in which different faiths can live together in peace.
If you believe the voices of Christians from the Holy Land deserve to be heard, share this message and tell us in the comments: is peaceful coexistence still possible?
