UPD: now i want to share my top-5 films about Great Patriotioc war:
5)На войне как на войне / At war as at war (1968) - a movie about SU-100 crew, pretty good story and i liked it when watched first time so much.
4)Сын солдата / Son of the soldier (1964) - this film is awesome and story so sad, i cried for real after watching.
3)А зори здесь тихие / Dawns here so quiet (1972 and 2015) - there's two editions of this film, old and modern - both based on eponymous book, wroten by Boris Vasilyev. I just recommend watching it.
2)Брестская крепость / Brest Fortress (2010) - in my humble opinion, this is the most historical accurate modern movie about Great Patriotic war.
1)Освобождение / Liberation (1967-1971) - the series of films about each key events and battles in Great Patriotic war. No modern Russian film on the WW2 topic can compare to it. That's all😁
....and no one I know considers Finnland to have been "the bad guys", because with the Red Army kicking in your door you have to buy arms from somewhere. It's a shame we cut you off, but such were the alliances of the time.
The Thin Red Line had a phenomenal cast and a realistic approach.
Coastal Command, about British flying boat operations in WWII.
The Password is Courage, based on a true story, the film even has some lighthearted moments about a British soldier trying to escape from Nazi captivity.
太平洋奇跡の作戦キスカかな
2. Battle of Britain
3. The Dirty Dozen
Directed in 1983 by Michael Mann.
The first battle in the intro and the final one at the end.....
Masterpiece.
Two finnish war movies, two masterpieces.
2 battleground
3 saving private Ryan
4 bataan
5 the old midway
In June 1942, that island was undefended so the Imperial Japanese Navy (i.J.N.) grabbed it.
The movie "The Thin Red Line" is about evicting the i.J.N. Special Landing force, and i.J. Army (i.J.A.) from that island between 7 August 1942 and sometime in February 1943.
Roberto Benigni's academy award winning 'Life is Beautiful' was also brilliant, but not a traditional war movie. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Then there is 'Whisky Galore', a humerous look at wartime Scotland after whisky is rationed, but a cargo ship full of whisky is sunk, and the bottles wash up on Scottish beaches, only to quickly dissappear into the general community.
The authorities try to recover the cargo.
Another excellent movie is A Bridge Too Far. It’s a great movie, showing how the desperate hope to end the war in Europe in 1944 clashed with real world capabilities. The shortage of gliders and aircraft forcing a much smaller first wave. The reality of relying on sequential attacks to secure routes etc… Obviously it took some liberties, but overall a good movie.
1- The Misfit Brigade (1988)
2- When Trumpets Fade (1998)
3- Windtalkers (2002)
4- Stalingrad (1993)
5- Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)
I also recommend Heneral Luna since this is the most historical film and a must try on Netflix (with English or Castillan Spanish subtitles).
Edit: Honorable mentions would be Enemy at the Gates, Come and See, the Big Red One, Saving Ryans Privates, Midway, and Peatl Harbor.
1: Where eagles dare
2: Kelly's heros
3: Saving Private Ryan
4: The Guns of Navarone
5: Against the Wind
Extra credit:

I also found the depiction of Guadalcanal in that movie superior to that of The Pacific's portrayal. We could actually see what was going on as opposed to The Pacific where you mostly just saw Marines firing into the darkness. It also gives the US Army their respect- that the Pacific war wasn't just about the marines. The Army suffered just as much.
La Delgada línea roja para mucha gente poco cinéfila no la comprenden.
I would probably include 'Tora Tora Tora', 'Sink the Bismarck' and 'Ice Cold in Alex' though.
Oh and if you want a very real, traumatising experience, I'd also include ' Come and See'! 😬
'Come and See' is truly traumatising 😢
Enemigo a las puertas
El aguila ha llegado
Un puente muy lejano
La cruz de Hierro
2. Годен к нестроевой. 1968
3. Женя, Женечка и катюша. 1967
4. Sahara. 1943
5. The Beige on the River Kwai. 1957
Такой вот список. "На войне как на войне" пересматриваю как заворожённый каждый год.
1: Fury
2:1917
3 enemies at the gates
4:the Patriot
I wouldn't even put SPR in my top 5 but it does deserve credit for helping make the best TV series ever made (Band of Brothers)
Apocalypse now
The battle of Britain
Full metal jacket
The Great escape
Они сражались за Родину
В бой идут одни старики
И мой самый любимый - Судьба человека.
