Después de ganar experiencia y aprender mucho, veo los defectos de esta película que por entonces parecía magistral. Llama la atención que ese entrenamiento NO es Muay-Thay y que los combates tampoco muestran Muay-Thay. De hecho, Van Damme, aunque era estético no tenía ni idea de Muay-Thay pero era campeón de Bélgica de kárate full-contact, y lo demuestra con las poses que utiliza en sus películas: Kárate.
Me hace gracia recordar que Tong-Po era en la vida real su mejor amigo, el mismo que lo prevenía de hacer tonterías en los Estados Unidos. Incluso cuando ganaron dinero con esta peli, su amigo que era argelino de origen aunque residente en Bélgica, trató de impedir que Van Damme empezase a drogarse.
En fin, hoy me parece una peli poco coherente, inferior a filmes como "fighter in the wind" o "Fists of legend" de Jet Li.
Por supuesto, con todo mi respeto por quienes la aprecian. Pero que el saber y no las emociones sean su guía.

I don't know how many times I've watched Kickboxer.
Through out his entire career Jean Claude van Damme made some of the greatest movies related to martial arts.
But the best is he didn't presented only spectacular fights ( excellent choreograph y) his movies shows the beauty of other countries,other cultures,arts,people.

It's always a joy to watch his movies.
Tremendous job done by everyone.

Well, I grew up watching Van Damme as a hero, and I still admire and like him.
However, Dennis (in the movie, Van Damme's brother) had eaten up Tong Po, or Van Damme himself, in real life. At Dennis's peak, he was literally unstoppable.
