Not all police are corrupt but enough are and have been that just about every scenario you can think of has been done. Like just recently in new York a big wig in the NYPD was the get away driver for her gang banger son in a drive by. Now ask yourself what else has she done and gotten away with because of who she is.

It is very rare, roughly 3 - 7 shootings a year leading to criminal conviction of the cop; 10 - 20 questionable shootings could be avoided. In a country of 340 million, this is nothing.

More than enoigh times have lies about a situation been spread only for the bodycam to reveal the cops were actually right all along.

Not to say no bad cops exist, they definitely do and they should be held accountable but being against cops in general and always blaming them immediately upon a situation happening without knowing all the details is how bad cops have an easier time to get away with stuff.

​@Z38_US Conveniently ignoring the potential of said cops turning off their body cams to obscure the evidence... even as far as not releasing said footage afterward. "The Rookie" brings that attention for a really good reason.

Not weeding out the bad cops will continue to ruin their own perception to the public and acting hostile or in opposition to those calling them out makes it worse.

Because people are idiots. Sure, there are bad cops, corrupt cops, cops abusing power, but there are also good cops. Those who actually try to make a difference in their communities. I've met a lot of police officers. I've never met a disrespectful one. I've been pulled over twice (both lawful stops and I was absolutely in the wrong), and both times the officers were fair, respectful, and made it easy on me. There are a lot more good cops than bad cops, but the media isn't going to show the cops being nice and letting someone off on a warning when they could show a corrupt cop faking tickets and making unlawful arrests.

@agentlinrov1474 I agree we should weed out bad cops but we can't do that when the default is always "they must be bad/corrupt", that isn't helpful.

Bodycams have already helped quite a bit in both exposing lying criminals and exposing bad cops, a cop that purposefully turns of his bodycam during a call is extremely suspicious and should be treated as such but if the bodycam was on the entire time we shouldn't immediately jump to conclusions but wait for the release of the footage and then look at everything before we make a judgement call.

More than enough times have I seen people repost small clips from bodycams and frame the cops in a bad way but when watching the entire thing with context suddenly it changes completely and you now know why they did what they did.

We should always strife to know as much as we can before calling anyone out but people don't do that, the second anything involving cops happens the cops are usually the bad guys by default which is dumb.

If you knew anything about anything you'd know that that's not how it works police don't get to investigate themselves they get people from the outside to do ot so that there's no biais if a cop in a station does something noone in that station will investigate it another station gets that job and most of the time if something criminal has happened that cop will be thrown in prison or relieved of duty permanently sure some slip through but most cops are good and honestly only reason people have to hate cops is if they themselves are criminals
