The day of the jackal had nothing to do with espionage. It was a hunt the assassin story. North by Northwest was also NOT a spy story except maybe peripherally. The Conversation Also NOT a spy story. Just a tale about a professional wiretapper. The Third Man also had nothing to do with spies but revolved around the faked death of a black marketeer.
