🎨 ABOUT THIS UNIQUE PIECE & FRAME DESIGN:
Framing in traditional Islamic geometric design plays an essential role in visual harmony and sacred geometry. The perimeter frame is never just a border; it acts as a visual anchor that guides the eye naturally inward toward the focal lettering.

In this artwork, we designed a customized multi-tiered relief border. Each corner, contour, and beveled edge is individually calculated and hand-cut to create architectural depth. The inner calligraphy sits suspended within concentric tiered borders, allowing directional light to cast subtle drop shadows behind each stroke. By contrasting flat kraft textures with exposed corrugated fluting, ordinary packaging board transforms into a museum-worthy bas-relief plaque.

🛠️ TOOLS & MATERIALS USED:
• Multi-ply recycled cardboard & smooth kraft chipboard
• Precision hobby scalpel / craft knife (#11 fine-point blades)
• Heavy-duty self-healing cutting mat
• Metal safety ruler with non-slip cork backing
• Acid-free non-toxic PVA craft glue & wood bond
• Sanding block (fine 320-grit for clean bevel edges)
• Tracing & carbon transfer sheets
• Display backing mount

⏱️ TIMESTAMPS / STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS:
00:00 - Blueprint transfer: Measuring the geometric frame dimensions
00:02 - Cutting outer architectural bevels and corner joints
00:04 - Carving the fluid contours of the central Arabic name
00:06 - Hand-scoring tiered layers to build 3D perspective
00:08 - Dry-fitting the calligraphy within the newly built frame
00:10 - Final precision gluing, layer alignment, and clamping
00:12 - Dramatic studio reveal under warm cinematic side-lighting

💡 3 TIPS FOR CUTTING INTRICATE CARDBOARD FRAMES:

Knife Angle Consistency: Keep your blade tilted at a steady 45-degree angle along straight border cuts to give the outer frame a beveled, professional picture-frame edge.

Cut Inside Corners First: Always slice outward from the interior corners toward the edges. This prevents thin cardboard bridges from buckling under blade tension.

Layer Grain Direction: Alternate the internal flute direction (grain) of your cardboard layers. Cross-layering significantly strengthens the frame and prevents warping over time.
