Disc Readers fail over time (10-15 years before it starts failing)
PS2: Blue&Black > Gold > Silver in that order for laser failing.
And then you have discs being ruined, yeah some can be fixed with resurfacing, others not so much. Can get expensive as hell.

I thought maybe some kinda barcode, but I wonder how muchnhe spent in NFC tags though. Still a pretty sweet idea. But honesty, when I comes to movies I actually prefer having a digital collection I can have on one small SSD. Especially with a plex setup or something, can watch them on almost any device in the house.
