As a kid we hated Tai Lung. Now that we're older, we realize Shifu was actually a textbook example of a toxic Asian parent. Setting expectations sky-high, then gaslighting his own kid when he didn't achieve it 🥲💔

I’m sure Po wouldn’t have done what Tai lung has done if it came to that. That’s what separates them. Tai lung just doesn’t have what it takes to be dragon warrior. He was too power hungry.

@gautamvashi106 I agree... But did Shifu even teach him to be humble? You see, Tai Lung's humility would've developed if he was been taught and told to be humble and not prideful thinking he is the righteous dragon warrior. Well I guess I'm neutral whether it was Shifu's fault or not After all, Shifu was like a father to him.

@Gooierostrich10 Nope. Utterly and completely wrong. He would have completely lost his shit and thought they were playing a joke on him.
Tai Lung had no internal sense of self worth. He depended on external acknowledgements to judge his own value. This was the actual issue. He had no self esteem. Nothing would have ever been capable of satisfying him or filling the void in him because that shit can only come from you, not anything or anyone else.
He would have exploded at being denied some special power to acknowledge his greatness, unable to realize it was the toil of your own hands and good results of your sincere effort that made you the dragon warrior. He would have also exploded if he had recieved some great power, because it was never going to be enough to fill the void inside him as external acknowledgments just dont work.

And so he leaves for 20 years. He goes through the most grueling training, completely motivated to prove himself to Oogway and Shifu. He never gave up.
And finally... he returns. He stands on a mountain in a thunderstorm. When the Jade Palace was under attack. And then he charged in at the threat and BEAT their ass.

It’s kinda weird to me after learning the Fives’ origin story that they are basically also the same as Po, accidental picking when they were only just side low level workers, yet Tigress is acting so hostile towards Po. To be fair onlt Tigress is, the rest of the Five are just kinda chill, so it’s probbaly because of Tigress’ iron will and her devotion to Sifu that made her act this way, since it’s literally goving Sifu so much stress when Oogway picked Po.

In that universe a large part of the plot challenge is just coming to grips with prophecy and destiny and all that.

Oogway: *Understandable. Have a great day✌🏻*
He trained super recklessly for decades and never once his father figure said he was proud of him
If when ooghway refused him the scrool, shifu would have at least talked to him and said that whatever the scrool contain doesn't matter i will always be proud of you my son, I don't think he would have crapped out
1. Finally, a Worthy opponent!
2. Our battle will be legendary!
3. How? How?! I don't know!
"Whoever hold this stick..."
"Finally, a worthy opponent.."
Villains made ✅
I wouldn’t say he was dumb. He just wants what he was promised. Sheifu had no right to promise all that, but he did. Imagine spending all of that time training very hard, being told that you are the one by your father, just to be rejected. Many would also be outraged and feel entitled too.
"Who drove me to train until my bones cracked?!"
Oh, it was legendary alright
(Btw it's a joke)

Tai Lung is the real-life character.
Because sometimes no matter how hard you try and how talented you are, you may overcome every obstacle on your path and triumph over every hardship or enemy imaginable... to achieve nothing in the end.
Also Tai Lung: Bites his tail
😭ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
Kung fu panda trilogy has given us has to be studied
If he had shown humility and not force himself to take the scroll, Oogway would had acknowledge he is the dragon warrior.
