Reviewing Every MGM Cartoon #279: "Cat Napping"

My favorite gag is the realization that tom is in the air

This is the final Tom and Jerry cartoon where Spike is light grey; subsequent cartoons from the Hanna-Barbera era after this one have Spike colored creamy-tan. Spike and Tyke would not be light grey again for until Tom and Jerry Kids Show in 1990.

I love Tom’s scream when he realizes he’s in the air

This one's about as simple and as petty as you can get, fighting over a hammock. This is the first appearance of the ants. (I always love the music for them.) The gag with the frog and the bit where Tom goes soaring through the air only to hit the water so hard that he breaks into pieces are the best parts.

Top 10 episode for me. Love the frog bit. Features some of Tom's best facial expressions.

Just what I want, some nasal pitched nerd breaking down a cartoon double their age and usually for background noise or entertainment.

Real good material here.

Another one I grew up with, because of the Spotlight Collection. I remembered the gag where ants would shake the hammock when they marched on it, the moment where Tom is thrown in the air, but doesn’t realize til he gasps in horror upon seeing he is way up high and the moment where Tom finds Spike's collar upon hitting him in the hammock and massively gulps knowing he messed up badly. This is one I’d casually watch if it played, but it won’t have a lasting impact like other Tom and Jerry cartoons.

This is probably one of my favorite episodes of the 50s

Cartoon Network used to air a weird print of this cartoon that looked heavily faded and worn.

My favorite gag is the one where Tom gets launched into the air, it taking a while for him to realize he’s in the air and the hard crash as he slams against the water are so good. also the lawnmower gag is underrated imo.

This one is simple but really good.

Hi me bhi apki trha cat video banata hu please dek kar batao ki kuch kami hai kya please

Tom and jerry they battling tha hammock this cartoon is Halarious and funny episode 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

This is one i saw as a kid,but i really couldn't remember it all that much and honestly this is pretty forgettable fluff, with the exception of the ending, which is well done but j still find this to be ok at best 6/10

A lot of people's favorite gag in this is the one where Tom gets slingshotted/cat-apulted into the air, flies past a bird and a plane, realizes he's in the air and then plummets into the ocean water so hard he breaks into pieces; And while that is indeed a great gag, my favorite is the one where jerry gets lauched whilist he's asleep, and slides down multiple objects before sliding right back into the hammock right when Tom is about to sleep on it!
