Some movies weren't horror movies... but they still gave us nightmares.

Return to Oz (1985) gave an entire generation of kids some truly terrifying imagery. From the terrifying Wheelers and Mombi’s collection of disembodied heads to the monstrous Nome King, this children’s fantasy definitely wasn’t afraid to get disturbing.

Welcome to Movies That Gave Us Nightmares, a series celebrating the weird, unsettling, and unintentionally traumatizing movies of our childhood.

👇 What movie gave YOU nightmares as a kid? Let me know in the comments — it might be Episode 9.
