Arabic Doesn't Write Its Vowels (And It Changes Everything)
3 مشاهدة · 2026/10/03
Did you know 99% of written Arabic has ZERO vowels? 🤯
Unlike English, Arabic uses a hidden system of diacritic marks called Tashkeel (تشكيل) to write out short vowel sounds. But in everyday life—from news sites to novels—those marks are completely deleted.
Instead, native speakers use a 3-letter root system (like K-T-B for "writing") combined with real-time sentence logic to read effortlessly. Without a single visual vowel, the brain instantly decodes whether K-T-B means:
• Kataba (كتب) = He wrote
• Kutub (كتب) = Books
• Kutiba (كُتِب) = It was written
