Reviewing Every MGM Cartoon #303: "Heir Bear"

one of the weakest barney bear cartoons

I think the newspaper in the beginning was probably the funniest thing to me. Aside from mentioning Bradley Scott and Quimby in two of the articles, for some reason, one article title reads "Man kills wife." That's not funny in real life, but in a cartoon? 🤣🤣This one's not that memorable although the bear rug and cigar dynamite gags are pretty funny and the ending with the tax collector is probably the best part.

This one is all right

The gag where Barney would shatter into smaller Barneys would be featured in a bumper for Boomerang.

I like this one. I kinda like gopher cartoons in general, so this one appeals to me at least.

Garden Gopher + ...I was gonna say The Million Dollar Cat but this short has little similarities to that one aside from the fact they both feature money in them so idk but yeah no doubt that Garden Gopher is better; They even reuse the gag where the gopher launches an object at the protagonist of which they shatter into tinier versions of themselves like them Russian dolls 🪆!

I do kinda like the bear rug and the train gags... and also the mean ending gag; The lesson here folks is that you ain't safe from them tax deductions... not even in cartoons

Personally, I liked the gag where Barney Bear turns into a bear-skin rug, as well as the satirical gag at the end, though the rest of the short is quite decent.

The bit with Barney turning into a bear rug is such a creative idea for a gag

Crazy how i never knew the bear had a name until discovering this channel

I honest to god do not know why so many studios had there main charaters chase after gophers, especially during the 1950s,i don't get it and most of what I've seen with this set up,some work and some don't,and unfortunately this one don't work for me,this is really standard stuff 5/10

Barney Bear is Fineing and Okaying and Alrighting and 6/10ing and averaging all day
