What Happens If You Step In Quicksand? (Movies Lied) 😳 #shorts

What happens if you step in quicksand? Movies say it swallows you whole. Physics says no, and here it is in 3D.
Quicksand is sand, clay and salty water. When you move it liquefies and you sink, but it's about twice as dense as the human body (~2 g/mL vs ~1 g/mL), so you float and only sink to about your waist (Khaldoun, Bonn et al., Nature 2005). The real problem is the sand packing around your legs: pulling a foot out at just 1 cm per second can take force comparable to lifting a car. Don't thrash. Wiggle your legs slowly to let water in, lean back to spread your weight, and float your way out.
