a couple quick notes:
(a) i am very familiar with U.S. Army rank structure, so i understand the seniority that a CPT/MAJ has over a 2LT/1LT;
(b) i wasn't being literal with their ages, i was just making a lighthearted joke about a pretty young guy calling a slightly younger guy "son";
(c) i also know that the military, as with any organization, has its own culture, vernacular, customs, and so on, so things like this that might sound a little funny in the real world make a lot more sense in a military context

Long story at the end it said Frank Burney went back to Chicago be a postman I live in Chicago. I did a white page on him Frank Perney Juliette I said no way can this guy still be alive? This was in about 2007 called Frank yes, Frank Pikai yes, what do you want Frank? I just watched the band of Brothers. Let me call you back seriously I’ve been immense in World War II for 50 years just as a novice I got off the phone and I was shaking inside. I called him back later on wanted to take him out to lunch went over to his house. We were not friends, but he knew my name when I called. Hi Mike I had them at my son school I had them on my radio show at the time. I took a couple people over there to meet him. He is everything that you see in the movie, brisk little brash and quite funny.

Exactly. The 28th was decimated in Hurtgen forest and were the most spread out division on the line. Bastone would have been captured before the 101 even arrived if the 28th didn't fight so hard and slowed the germans. There was basically a Corps defending Bastone with the 101, 28th, 10 armored and other attached units

For those who dont know, the Germans offered the encircled troops a chance to surrender, The General incharge was asleep and his reaction to the offering: "NUTS!" They recommended he reply with just that. The Germans were obviously confused.

And to this day, every memeber of the 101st at Bastogne has expressed absolute resolve that they did not need rescued by Patton and his 3rd armor and it remains in the 101st logbook.
