The Social Reckoning’s Message Feels DATED | Movie Review

The Social Reckoning has a BIG problem… its message feels a few years too late!
Aaron Sorkin delivers another brilliantly written film with fantastic performances from Jeremy Allen White and Mikey Madison, but I think The Social Reckoning struggles with its broader commentary on the dangers of social media.
The problem? We already KNOW these dangers exist. We experience them every single day, largely because of the very investigations this movie explores.
While the investigative journalism storyline is genuinely compelling, the film’s attempts to emphasize the harmful effects of social media feel dated and, at times, unnecessary. Had this movie been released several years ago, I think its message would have landed much harder.
There’s a GREAT movie hiding inside this GOOD one, and I wish Sorkin had trusted the investigation to speak for itself.
Do you think The Social Reckoning arrived too late to make the impact it wanted?
