This movie is based on a true story. The only difference is, they weren't traveling during the summertime. They were traveling during the winter, when they were trying to get back, and the mother almost died in the winter while they were trying to get back. And the men that were taking them back to the US actually had to carry the mother, but she lived, she almost died from the cold. And if you've never seen this movie at one point one of the men that are helping them takes all her information away from her and keeps it safe until he gets her across the border, then he gives it back because if they would have been busted and anyone found anything on her saying who she really was. And where she actually came from, they would have killed her and her child

A similar thing happened to a girl from my town. She was smart, popular, athletic and beautiful. She was very sweet and it was hard to imagine her life could take a dark turn. In college she met a handsome guy from Australia. They got married and had two boys. When the second baby was born they went on a trip to Australia. He told her they weren't leaving and took her passport. He abused her so badly she got put in the hospital. Her parents went to Australia to fight to bring back her and the boys. She lived in fear after that because her husband told people he would find her. I baby sat for her a few times and had strict orders to never open the door or answer the phone. I hope wherever she and her sweet boys are now they are very happy.
