⁠I've said it before, but Drew Barrymore creeped me the F out when I first saw E.T The Extraterrestrial as a kid. I have no idea why, but I thought she was more terrifying than the alien.⁠

I have no explanation, but that early childhood trauma of being unsure which of them was the animatronic puppet has stuck with me for the past 40 years. ⁠

Because therapy is good for the soul, at least according to Dr. Phil, I thought I'd dive headfirst into that trauma and explore the 7 reasons WHY E.T. was the worst 80s movie ever made....yes, even worse than Leonard Part 6.⁠

Yeah, I never liked ET. I found it boring. Even as a kid I didn't get any sense of wonder. The kids were monotone, ET was just ridiculous and not in a good way, and the adults were stupid. And that scream you opened with. It was less a scared little girl and more temper tantrum. Nothing about this movie worked from the script, to the acting, to the story.

Drew Barrymore creeped me out for years after I saw the movie Firestarter as a kid. Cat's Eye and Poison Ivy didn't help with my assessment of her either. She was a great actress, even then, and I guess that is why she seemed creepy.

ET was one of the best. My stepdad was a manager of a movie theater and I would be there watching movies for free, or getting free sodas and popcorn, people would ask me for my autograph. I looked very similar, but 2 years younger than Elliot. Peter Coyote scared me.
