This Scream Is Hidden In Your Favorite Movies 🎬😱

You've heard this scream in more than 400 movies… and you probably never noticed. 😱🎬

In 1951, an actor recorded a few short screams for a western called Distant Drums. Sound editors saved the recording in the studio's sound library, and then reused it again… and again… for decades.

In the 1970s, sound designer Ben Burtt tracked it down, named it the "Wilhelm scream" after a minor character from a 1953 film, and slipped it into Star Wars. After that, sound designers started hiding it in films as an inside joke.
