The Devil Made Me Do It: The True Story Behind The Conjuring 3!

What if someone committed murder and claimed the devil was responsible?

In 1981, a horrifying murder in Brookfield, Connecticut, became one of the most bizarre criminal cases in American history.

19-year-old Arne Cheyenne Johnson fatally stabbed 40-year-old Alan Bono. But what made this case so unusual was Johnson’s defense, which attempted to argue that he had been under demonic possession at the time of the killing.

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren had previously become involved with the alleged possession of 11-year-old David Glatzel, whose family claimed he was being tormented by a demonic entity. According to the Warrens, Johnson challenged the entity to possess him instead.

The judge ultimately rejected the demonic possession defense, and Johnson was convicted of manslaughter.

Decades later, these events inspired the Hollywood horror film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

But how much of the movie actually happened? And was something supernatural really involved, or was the devil simply being blamed for a horrific crime?

The murder was real. The possession claims remain disputed.
