Until at last, I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us." - J.R.R Tolkien
Tolkien saw the worst of humanity in WW1 and yet never lost hope of the good in people. This quote is so important in times like this.
"I say, do need weep, because not all tears are evil"
#1 isn't in the book at all, for example, and Théoden's speech in the book is different to what's given here. In the book, we witness Gimli asking Galadriel for one of her hairs instead of him telling of it after the fact, and so on.
These movie quote roundups are a stark reminder of how much better the book versions are.
Please, I beg you all, let's defend our countries, our homes, our freedom, our children!!! 🙏✝️☦️
I had it 9,5/11 but I want to say, English is my second language. I thought it was "human flesh" when it was man flesh, but I gave myself 0,5 for knowing it almost correctly 😂 I also failed with Argonath, got lost there for too long (another 5 seconds and I'd be correct 😂)
okay fair, I got like 8 out of 10 aha
It might be my favourite moment form the whole story, just because of how it refuses to explain its own significance
It's impressive to see though, as someone who genuinely struggles to remember the details on the spot even if you ask me about subjects I know most about.
