Why would they slap her face for talking to a dog. That’s a bit silly.

This is not as bleak as it seems. They get married, she gets famous-ish selling paintings and such. And she didn't stop talking.

I get the sense that this short was a bunch of random clips from the movie and does not give an accurate assessment of the movie.

Its a shame but handicap people were so mistreated back in those days. My grandmother told me a story. When she first moved to cinti Ohio. She went to a Hosp that also treated handicapped people. She said she saw a 5 year old with 2 heads. It really upset her.

Richard Nixon had Maud Lewis paintings in his White House. Some of her paintings have sold for 100k +. One sold for 300k. Their house, every surface painted, is in the Nova Scotia Art Gallery in Halifax.

It really gets me very angry how people can be so cruel to people who are disabled and genuinely disadvantaged. We need a hard look at ourselves. Wake up.
