The two scientists tried to use a weapon from space to design an enhanced ai framework meant to run a legion of robotic soldiers that was meant to protect earth from an alien attack. The first time they tried this, the ai became sentient and went mad and declared war on humanity. In an effort to make itself stronger, the evil ai designed a new body for its "main" body, which these people, two scientists included, stole in an attempt to stop the evil robot. The scientists, in their hubris, decide to try AGAIN with this new and even more dangerous robot to implant software that will make it combat the evil robot, brushing aside any worries that the exact same thing might happen again, which the american flag costume guy is so upset about. Hence the scuffle in the lab. The younger man/woman are siblings that helped the evil robot but have recently switched to helping the good guys, which is why the one scientist threatens to kill her. Film is Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's part of a very long running movie series call the MCU.
