You're So Busy Judging Movies, You're Missing Them. #filmmaking #independentfilm

Usually, most of us (especially critics) are so busy looking at what a film ISN'T that we rarely stop to experience what it IS.

The filmmaker/musician/writer/artist made those creative choices for a reason. Those elements are there for us to experience. And when we spend our time looking for what's missing, or imagining what we would've done differently, we are completely missing the point of what's actually there. That doesn't mean we have to like everything we see. But there's a big difference between not liking what an artist created and never really seeing it in the first place.

This is a clip from one of my online Film Directing masterclasses.
