The CIA Invented a Fake Movie to Rescue Hostages! #Shorts

The CIA invented a fake Hollywood movie to rescue hostages from Iran, and it worked. In 1979, militants stormed the US embassy in Tehran and took 52 Americans hostage, but six diplomats escaped and hid with Canadian diplomats. CIA officer Tony Mendez built a cover: a fake film company, Studio Six, a fake science-fiction movie called Argo, and real Canadian passports. In January 1980, the six posed as a Canadian film crew, walked through Tehran airport, and flew out to freedom. The CIA's part stayed secret until 1997.
