Now that im thinking about. There are a weirdly large amount of kids movies that seem to normalize abuse and injustice as a "part of growing up"

We need a movie where Matilda is an adult and she's the teacher

My autistic transfem ass really loved this movie growing up. Now I have a few clues as to why

Well, the writers are often rich. Rich USUALLY don't become rich by being nice.

Most of them are too focused on teaching kids how to become more "convenient" that they forget 2 things:
1-To teach them actual important life skills and how real life works,
2-To tell an actually fucking high quality story.
Even my neurodivergent 5 year old brain could tell that authors didn't understand kids at all.

@Rainbow_Aza the writers aren't usually that rich. The studio executives, on the other hand, are usually a couple of orders of magnitude wealthier and they get to decide which scripts get greenlit and which writers get hired.

Say what you will about her family, but they had the decency to let her go and live with someone who wanted her and she wanted to live with. A hell of a lot better than a lot of real life examples

You see if you were beaten and abused since you were a child and everyone thought it was normal then you would think all the evil done was normal and "how the world works" as well.

I do find it weirdly hilarious that them signing over parental rights is literally the kindest thing they've ever done for her
