When you love your job, its no longer a job, or even a career or hobby. It becomes part of you that cannot be separated or given away any more than you would a physical part of your body. When it leaves, it's like losing a beloved friend, lover, family member and when it is no longer available to you, you go through mourning and separation trauma that is very hard to let go of. I had that love of work when i drove trains in Australia. I lost it due to bad things that just happen sometimes. That was 6 years ago and i am still grieving over it. I have tried replacing it with other jobs, and for awhile they are great, but it feels like something in my soul is gone and can never return and i am lost. I have been trying to find a similar role, or hobby to take its place, but nothing has fit in there just that way. 😢

I was in film for 40+ years. COVID brought it to almost a complete halt for two years. It was two years at the wrong time in my life. By the time it began picking back up my body was losing capability to take the constant grind. For three years I grieved having to retire. During those years my body finally declined to the point I realized I could never return and I'm now reconciled to that fact but still miss it dearly.

As a 30yr veteran Hollywood Motion Picture Grip I am astounded by the dedication Russell brought to the screen.🙏

Pay me that money and I will show passion, work ethic 12 hours a day is nothing. Compared to the reward. We do that now and can barely pay bills. What are you talking about?

Yeah man. 4 am starts and 12 hour days are ALREADY so many of our reality. These out of touch people think that they're doing something crazy and unique. Meanwhile the only thing unique about it is the amount of money they make for doing it lol. I work outdoors in all weather, temperatures and at heights but make a fraction

You poor soul. Not thinking about the fact you work in these “extreme” conditions for 3 months and you’ll be set financially for life. Some people do 12-hour shifts their entire working lives and just tread water.
