You must admire his poise during that time with the Don and Corleones being the only family that he had, because there are three things that you don't mess with when it comes to men: His money, his woman, and his family.

Tom kept his cool and showed true counseling ability.

@rad@raduplesa6356 The scene where Luca dies is so incredible... I don't know how they got his face to look like that because that was way before CGI or anything like that... I've seen a lot of documentaries about the film, but I've never seen an explanation about that scene.

I know that in real life he was a wrestler, Lenny Montana, I believe… But that scene was a great scene… I'd love to talk to Coppola about it… How they got Luca's eyes to pop like that... I thought that they may have really killed him, like it was a snuff film🙄!? #SwimmingWithTheFishes

@Toucan-u3m Because he'd been a wrestler, Lenny Montana could hold his breath for an extended time, which was required of him in his wrestling days when he was put into the "Sleeper" hold. But they did actually cut off his breathing, and he said in an interview, "They had a nurse standing by with oxygen during the filming of that scene. I passed out two or three times."

Tom, was the most successful student of Don Vito… he was the one that stayed closest to what Don Vito taught them to be. Both Sonny and Michael in different ways deviated from the Don’s philosophy, teachings and practices. However, it’s clearly arguable that Michael’s path was more successful than what his father encouraged.

@Toucan-u3m What struck me about that scene was the way Bruno smiled at Luca as he lit Luca's cigarette but then momentarily glanced over Luca's shoulder to catch sight of the approaching killer behind Luca's back, losing his smile for a quick second as he did so, but then he focused on Luca again and got his smile back. Very "film noir."

They were referring to getting the Don about an hour after picking up Tom. They got him just outside his office about an hour after Tom was picked up. Tom brought up Luca Brassi after being requested to smooth things over sensibly with Santino (Sonny). Sollozzo seemed remarkably carefree concerning Luca. If I were Tom, that apparent unconcern would worry me, given that Luca's vicious reputation was known far and wide and he was widely feared.

This has nothing to do with Luca’s death, Vito is the one who sent Luca undercover which was incredibly stupid of him, everyone knew who Luca is to Don Corleone.

It doesn't to me, Solozzo only wanted Vito dead because he obstructed expansion of his business. That's why Solozzo let Tom Hagen go, he just needed to tell the right person to ease tensions as soon as possible, and knew Tom Hagen would agree that this is the right course of action.
