Starving Tomb Builders Went on Strike Against a Pharaoh

The workers building a pharaoh's tomb were paid in bread and beer. When the rations were 18 days late, they dropped their tools and sat down in protest.
This is a funny stickman retelling of one of the earliest known workers' strikes in history. It happened around 1157 BCE under Ramesses III, and the tomb builders of Deir el-Medina in Egypt were the ones who stopped work. A papyrus now kept in Turin, Italy, records what happened. The grain eventually arrived, but the trouble returned later. The scenes in this video are an animated reconstruction.
