Okay, everything that was announced about this movie is absolutely sad. The director of the Spider-Man Home trilogy, okay… love the movies, the directing was the worst part by far. The writer for Dark phoenix, Fan 4 stick, Apocalypse…. The Skywalker Saga is back…. Wich I wanted to end with Luke, but Rey ruined the whole thing. Rey is back… one of the most hated characters in the franchise, who was the main character of the franchises downfall. And it takes Place after the sequels wich makes it a new time period and lore. No he was not, Palpatine did not create Anakin it was never shown in a comic, Anakin was created by the force in response to the manipulation of the force by plagueis.

I mean in the Kinbergs defense he also wrote days of futures past and has worked with Star Wars before being a writer for Rebels and specifically wrote imo the best episode when Ashoka fights Vader.
I do agree I think it’s stupid there not setting it in a very distant time period. I think it’d do wonders for the brand to basically hit the reset button and jump 300 years or whatever into the future and have a NEW antagonist no more empire or anything similar. Not that this would've recovered the sequel trilogies in anyway, but one of the many things that pissed me off was one of the last convo between Rey and Leia in episode 9 and Leia basically tells her she should be proud and accepting of the person she is regardless of where she came from, and instead of having any common sense to make Rey adopt the Palpatine name they make her wrongfully take the Skywalker name. The fact they still wanna call the new movie a continuation of the Skywalker saga is absolutely insane and idiotic. It's not even the Adoptive Skywalker saga, Rey wasn't adopted, she appropriate the Skywalker name and legacy cause she was ashamed of her own. Maybe we'll learn Luke and Mara are actually canon and they have a kid, unfortunately in EU canon their child was called Ben, not Han and Leia's who had Jacen, Jaina and Anakin, but maybe they'll switch names around and we'll get a Jacen or Jaina Skywalker (Jaina more likely, the force is female and all that)
