Just the name Lucio Fulci is like a seal of approval to me. Kinda like a Parental Advisory label on a good album. I actually prefer these old school horror films to the new polished horror films of today. They have a grittier feel to them without all the HD BS

I love fulci but the undisputed king of italian horror is DARIO ARGENTO!

Ok, just to clarify things: when Dawn of the Dead was released in Italy, it had a different cut (Argento produced it) and was retitled “Zombi”. Zombi was super popular in Italy so in order to quickly capitalize on it, companies wanted to make a sequel, hence “Zombi 2”.

I saw a video essay on that. You beat me to the explanation

@MBHK0YouTube

Ohp, better than Dawn of the Dead????? I’m in.

I don’t know why he said “ice pick scene” though. The memorable gore scene doesn’t involve an ice pick.

First time I watched this i was under 10 years old mid to late 90s, it was on a bootleg VHS from the backroom of a small privately owned video rental store that was next door to my great uncles offlicence... and so began my love of badly dubbed Italian horror movies.

Awesome flick. I owned it on VHS as Zombie, and have it on DVD as both Zombie and Zombi 2. I mostly bought the Zombi 2 version so I could have Zombie, Zombi 2 & Zombi3 all together on my shelves. Back in the day I had some friends over and they wanted to see the “trilogy”, so I said “Ok, but you’ll probably find Zombi 2 redundant.😂
Zombi 3 was probably the biggest hit since it’s the equivalent of a funhouse/dark ride.

First rented this movie when I was 10 years old in 1990... it was an old movie even then. Aside from the gore, the soundtrack was just as scary. I love "Night " "Dawn ", and "Day "..but as a zombie movie lover, if you haven't seen Zombie '79, you haven't seen anything.

synth' master 'fabio frizzi' ... is the genius that provides the memorably propulsive juice that reanimates the shambling gut-munching ghouls ... which gloriously flood the gore-infused screen of 'fulci's' sanguinary sensation ... mia farrow's sweet freckled sister 'tisa' had a good little run in genre film during this period for sure.
