I just had an epiphany. It's been 17 years since we've had our first feminine protagonist: Coraline (CORAL-ine) Jones from Coraline (2009). 17 years later, we have Prue McKeel as our second feminine protagonist of Wildwood (2026). Ironic, right?

I actually find Coraline scarier than wildwood but a lot of people may disagree with me because I went to watch wildwood today and 4 people walked out because I heard them say “the themes and violence of the film was too much for us to deal with” I just think it depends on the person personally.

Wildwood is more graphic violence wise and tackles more realistic serious themes (suicide and stuff). Coraline however is a full on spooky fairytale. It is like comparing the Lord of the Rings books to Grimm fairy tales.

Coraline was way scarier! The fact that people are saying Wildwood is better than Coraline. No, don’t get me wrong. It’s good, but there was too many characters, too much happening. Coraline has just the right amount. The right amount of interactions, characters, places etc.
